The way that Dimmesdale died is so dramatic. I am sure that all of the townspeople and especially Hester were traumatized for quite a while. Dimmesdale startled the crowd with an unbelievable confession then fell upon his own scaffold, taking his last breath. I was in awe when I heard about this major event. Not only did Dimmesdale die so publicly, but Chillingworth died a year later. Hester lost two important men in her life in a very sort period of time. Luckily Chillingworth did left Pearl a hefty inheritance. If such a sudden death and revelation occurred in our town I am sure that everyone would be affected dramatically. Hopefully our town learns from their mistake of adultery and lies. I hope that my descendants become great people that do great things for our town and other towns.
I feel that it would be a great idea for Dimmesdale and Hester to run away together. If they run away together of course people will know that they committed adultery, but the two will be gone and will not face the wrath of the townspeople. Running away would create an amazing opportunity for the two parents of Pearl to begin raising her properly and give her a wonderful childhood. Pearl is beginning to love and cherish her mother more and more as she grows older. The bond between mother and daughter is growing causing Pearl to mature into a young woman. When Pearl kisses the scarlet letter it is showing that she does not fear the letter and respects that her mother is wearing the letter to redeem her sin. Pearl still does not know that Dimmesdale is her father and so she does not show much love and respect towards him. Once Pearl finds out who her father is she will probably be ecstatic.
